Leave behind

I sell myself as a character animator from the start. But I am always working to better myself as an all around artist, as well as an animator. So when it comes to my branding and advertising, I have to try and wear the hat of designer. With that said, I have designed my "leave behind." A postcard to hand out along with my business card, that shows a little extra. I hope it helps me get noticed a bit. And shows I deserve a chance to start making art with other artists. After all that is what is most important right now.

-details-
All work done in Photoshop CS5 Extended.
Used a postcard resolution template for: safe area, trim, and bleed reference. Used a stamp template for masking and layering for stamp work. Was designed in CMYK ColorSpace for straight to print. Converted to RGB later for digital sharing. Wrinkle paper texture from CGTextures.com. Everything is handpainted and original from: the border pattern, envelope flap, tape, print look, and "frank" illustration.

Plastic Frank

To celebrate finishing my first "Munny" I threw a little video together. I designed it to be my character "Frank." I used acrylic paint and an art deco marker. The shots and footage were captured with my Nikon D3100. I had a lot of fun making this, and I am pretty proud of it. Especially how close it is to the design I had prepared. The score is an excerpt from RJD2's song "The Horror"

Update

Since I am working on the 2nd pass of the 2D animation, and I am in between material to show for it. I will go ahead and post this. I have been thinking about what I am lacking in regards to skills as an animator. And I have narrowed it down to realistic and creature animation. So using this really cool rig called Tiny and my good friend Derek's werewolf rig. I am hoping to rectify, or at least start practicing this area. Right now it is just a few ideas, and trying to understand the best way to approach them. So all I really have are the rigs, some ideas, and these exploratory thumbnails of a possible sequence (if not the whole asset, keeping it short).

A Mixture of Things

I posted an update on my 2D animation on my site. So I figured I would post something different here. These are some gesture drawings I did during the life drawing session I attended. And I am also including a styleframe of a project I am slowly working on right now as well.

Life Drawing Session

As part of my internship I must attend the life drawing sessions in the Fine Arts room, and do gesture drawing of the nude model. It is a lot of fun, and great practice. So this is another installment to my gesture drawing posts from the life drawing sessions.
