Sticky Frank

I bought a little red paper board portfolio for some papers. And when I peeled the sticker off. The surface was all sticky. So I decided to make a sticker to cover it. And this is the sticker I made.

Moving On

Well, the last scene that I was working through has been killed (by me). The method of straight ahead is a tempting mistress, and she got to me. Without me even knowing it. I think that some parts of the scene were working out pretty well. But, when I was checking the frames I noticed that the volumes had changed, not the proportions so much (which I was happy about). Never the less though the character had increased in size by almost four times. So I decided to can it and move on. I did have a lot of fun working with my jellyfish character. Which I will continue to use.

I am going to just start jumping right into lip syncs, well ease into it a bit. This first scene will be more to a sound effect. And I am going to be redesigning or rethinking the jellyfish character a bit. What you see below are my studies of the reference I am pulling from. From here I am going to work on the character sketches, model sheets, thumbnails, boards, and for fun (but really for practice, I might do a conceptual previz painting).

Oh and I have another project slowly in the works. I will try to post a few things from that, or related. Try to stay up to date with all of this.

Happy birthday Sam

Checking in a little late. But, I have a bit to share. Worked some more on the 2D animation, did a couple sketches, went to Disney, spent some time with my mentor. Good stuff. I didn't get a chance to shoot anything but the animation is moving along, I am doing a pass, tightening up the roughs and re animating some parts trying to make it a solid piece. Can't post it though. So here is a happy birthday tribute to mentor and dear friend Sam Ewing.
Much love

New illustration

Well I did some more work today on the 2D scene that I posted recently, but I forgot to email myself the .mov of the test. Which is probably a blessing in disguise since I am doing a pass over what I have, to tighten up the frames and revise some of the animation. So what I post next will be significantly better (hopefully), and just the same much further along to being animated.

Anyways I finished the illustration that I had posted a rough of a short while ago. This illustration was done completely on my iPad. From rough concept to rough line, basic color treatment, and final illustration. Hope you like it.

Just a bit of photography

Today was a slow work day. So I am going to post something I did just recently but did not post. It was a shot I took at Epcot Japan, and than made some adjustments to using my iPad. I swear this thing has turned into my own little mobile studio. I only turn on my computer for Photoshop and Maya basically. Well here is the work.

This is the original shot taken at Epcot Japan

And this is the corrected one (post)

Pose Test

This pose test was shot by tracing the thumbnails on to peg paper. I shot it on ones
and than adjusted the timing of the frames. Using the animation checker software's
exposure sheet. After tweaking it and adjusting it I got what I feel is a solid timing.
Than I just numbered my drawings as per the exposure sheet. And since I shot this I have worked on it a bit more, and will have a new pose test rather soon. I will not be doing a cleanup pass for a while. Doing these tests I have learned so much about the actual 2D animation practices and pipeline. So much fun.

Storyboarding

Trying to storyboard some new scenes that can be added to my reel.
This storyboard is just one of the ideas that I boarded so far. I am mind mapping some other ones and will get them boarded soon. This storyboard was done on my iPad.
