Just a bit of photography

Today was a slow work day. So I am going to post something I did just recently but did not post. It was a shot I took at Epcot Japan, and than made some adjustments to using my iPad. I swear this thing has turned into my own little mobile studio. I only turn on my computer for Photoshop and Maya basically. Well here is the work.

This is the original shot taken at Epcot Japan

And this is the corrected one (post)

Pose Test

This pose test was shot by tracing the thumbnails on to peg paper. I shot it on ones
and than adjusted the timing of the frames. Using the animation checker software's
exposure sheet. After tweaking it and adjusting it I got what I feel is a solid timing.
Than I just numbered my drawings as per the exposure sheet. And since I shot this I have worked on it a bit more, and will have a new pose test rather soon. I will not be doing a cleanup pass for a while. Doing these tests I have learned so much about the actual 2D animation practices and pipeline. So much fun.

Storyboarding

Trying to storyboard some new scenes that can be added to my reel.
This storyboard is just one of the ideas that I boarded so far. I am mind mapping some other ones and will get them boarded soon. This storyboard was done on my iPad.

Happy birthday Christina

I finally finished the "make friends" illustration. I don't know if I mentioned it, but the illustration was inspired by my girlfriend Christina and Mary Shelley's
"Frankenstein." And was/is intended for her as a birthday present. So here you go my love, happy birthday. I love you, hope you like it.

2D scene

So after having worked on some tests and exercises during the internship. I think I have had enough failures, which have been some serious learning experiences. To try and tackle something just a bit more difficult and slightly more finished. The goal with this one, besides it being a solid piece of animation (hopefully), is for the keys and breaks to all be added. As well as all of the meaty timing concepts. Not to say that Tweens are not important (every drawing is important, despite the hierarchy), just that I will not have the time to tween the animation. Or do any serious cleanup (or any most likely). This is just about the animation, and being able to tackle 2D,and do it well (hopefully haha). Anyways here are some sketches for the scene.

Gesture Drawing today at the Zoo

Visited the Central Florida Zoo today as apart of my internship. All to do some gesture drawings of some animals (super fun). I tried out some new drawing techniques today as well which was even better.

Quick sketches

So I am trying something a little new so that I can try and stay on top of my work and updating my blog. Just a different technique that allows me to take the rough sketches and block outs on my iPad and post them from my iPad. Alleviating the gap between the sketch and the posting will, I am hoping, help me stay up to date. As well as make me a bit faster, and get me to produce more work ultimately.

So with that said, here are some sketches I did today. I will push them forward as soon as I get some extra time (and I am not sketching out some new ones) as well as the one from last post. It wouldn't be such a bad thing to have a decent pile of rough sketches waiting to be finished. That way when I am fresh out of new ideas, I can take some time to revisit the other ones and refresh myself.

This one is just a silhouette of a character I am liking
