Illustration Blockout

I have been getting back into illustration on my down time. I had more sketches and rough works but they were unfortunately lost. This is the most recent and only one that I have currently. But, I do like it. My workflow recently has been to rough out the sketch on my iPad. And I may or may not give it a rough color treatment or further the block out. Than I save it out and work on it further in Photoshop. So this is the current illustration project.

2D Animation Internship Update

I have been running around a lot recently, so it goes without saying that I have not been good about the blog accuracy. Well I have graduated ( Salutatorian, Course Director's Awards, and 2nd highest grade on reel). And since than I have started a 2D Animation internship at the school. I am not really happy with any pencil tests to post them since they are just exercises. But, will be soon. Anyways here are some sketches from the internship. Some are character designs, life drawings, thumbnails, etc... Will try and stay more up to date from now on since I have gotten more used to the schedule.

Now that I have a different schedule I am going to try and incorporate the DSF into my daily life. This is the first one. The topic for today was Snow Storm and the time was 60 min Done in PS.

Revised Final Reel

I had a critique on some presentation points so I have re-cut the reel. It is a bit of a different edit with a few new little dressings on it and a couple of tweaks. So it is worth it. And I have re-posted it on the site and on youtube as well as vimeo and removed the other one.

Finally finished my Demo Reel

Well that time has finally arrived. I have finished my Demo Reel and I will be graduating February 4th 2011. As excited as I may be about these two events I am even more excited about the following. I have been given the honor by my Course Directors to be a guest speaker at the Orientation for new students starting their Full Sail career next week. My demo reel will be shown and I will be giving a speech. And if that is not enough. After I graduate I will be interning with Kathy Blackmore in the 2D animation department. I am really happy that all of my work is coming together. But, even more pleased with the fact that I am believe I am getting better as an animator and producing work that is entertaining.

Starting the BreakDown pass

Started the BreakDown pass last Friday, but because I came down with a chest cold over the weekend. I have been too busy trying to get over it to work. This week and little of the week to follow before the animation is due will be straight ahead animation.Working in Linear now with the major BreakDown poses. The rest will be getting the spacing to respect the timing I am going for. And trying to get as much character in the animation as possible. We will see what happens.

Blockout 2nd pass

I finished the Blockout Phase second pass. This is the animation with all of the storytelling poses, major keys, and anticipation poses. Spending a lot of time working on poses to try and ensure that my foundation for the animation is a strong one. I will be moving into linear now. I am going to work on some charts and thumbnails for the breakdowns. Than really starting to get into the animation. You can check the video out here Blockout 2nd pass
